## About
Binocular names such as 8x42 give the magnification and the lens diameter in millimetres. Enter two binoculars (or one) and the calculator works out the exit pupil, a twilight factor for dim light, relative brightness and how steady they are likely to be to hold, then tells you which use each suits best. Choose your use to see the specifications usually recommended.

## FAQ
**What do the two numbers mean, like 8x42?** The first is magnification (8 times closer). The second is the diameter of each front lens in millimetres, which controls how much light enters.

**What is exit pupil?** The lens diameter divided by the magnification. A bigger exit pupil gives a brighter image in poor light, up to about 5 to 7 mm which is as large as most eyes open.

**Is the Binocular Specs Calculator and Finder free?** Yes, with no sign-up or limits.
