How to use the Passport Photo Maker (Crop to Size, Print Sheet)
- Take or choose a photo of yourself facing the camera, against a plain light wall, in even light with no shadows, glasses glare or hats (unless worn for religious reasons).
- Choose your country. The preview shows the correct shape, and the red ovals show the allowed range of head sizes.
- Drag the photo and use Zoom until your head fits between the dashed oval (smallest allowed) and the solid oval (largest allowed), with your eyes level.
- Download the single photo, or a print sheet that fits as many copies as possible on a 4 × 6 inch print or A4 paper. Print it at 100% scale and cut along the gaps.
Example
Worked example (sizes from the tool at 300 dpi)
- UK, 35 × 45 mm: 413 × 531 px; a 4 × 6 inch sheet fits 6 copies (2 across, 3 down) and an A4 sheet fits 30
- US, 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm): 602 × 602 px; a 4 × 6 inch sheet fits 2 and an A4 sheet fits 15
- Canada, 50 × 70 mm: 591 × 827 px; a 4 × 6 inch sheet fits 2
Limitations
- The tool crops and resizes. It does not remove or change your background, retouch your face or check that your photo meets the official rules, so look at the official guidance before you submit.
- Sizes and head heights follow commonly published guidance and can change. Check your passport authority, embassy or the form you are filling in. Some countries, and any online application, may ask for a particular file size or a digital check.
- Photos from a phone usually work well. A photo smaller than the 300 dpi size will print softly.
- The result is a JPEG at 300 dpi, and no information is saved on our server.
- Many post offices and photo booths can take compliant photos if you would rather not do it yourself.

It runs entirely in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. It crops and sizes the image only.
