How to use the Tournament Bracket Generator (Single Elimination and Round Robin)
- Type or paste your teams or players, one per line, with the best seed first.
- Choose single elimination for a knockout bracket, or round robin for a schedule where everyone plays everyone.
- Tick Shuffle if you do not have seeds and want a random draw.
- Press Make bracket. Read the rounds and matches, then use Copy to share the bracket as text.
Example
Worked example (8 fictional teams in seed order, run through this tool)
- Quarter-finals: (1) Alpha vs (8) Hotel, (4) Delta vs (5) Echo, (2) Bravo vs (7) Golf, (3) Charlie vs (6) Foxtrot
- 7 teams instead of 8: The 1 seed, Alpha, gets the only bye in round 1
- Round robin with 6 teams: 5 rounds and 15 matches, and each team plays every other team once
Limitations
- The bracket shows the structure and matchups only. It does not store results or advance winners.
- Up to 64 entrants are used.
- Byes always go to the top seeds, as in standard tournaments, which is a benefit that organisers sometimes change.
- Round robin does not balance home and away games.
- For a random draw tick Shuffle. For a fair draw with seeds, enter the seeds in order.

About this tool
The Tournament Bracket Generator builds the matches for a tournament from a list of teams or players. For single elimination it uses standard seeding, so the top seeds meet the lowest seeds and cannot meet each other until the late rounds, and it adds byes automatically when the number of entrants is not a power of two. For a round robin it creates a schedule in which every team plays every other team once, using the circle method. Copy the result as text to share it.

Frequently asked questions
How are the matches in a seeded bracket decided?
Standard seeding pairs the 1 seed with the lowest seed, the 2 seed with the next lowest, and places the pairs so that the top seeds can only meet in the later rounds.
What is a bye?
A bye lets a team skip a round. When the number of teams is not a power of two (4, 8, 16, 32), the top seeds receive byes in round 1.
How many matches are there in a single-elimination tournament?
One fewer than the number of teams, because every match eliminates one team and only one team stays.
How many matches are there in a round robin?
n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 for n teams, so 15 for 6 teams and 28 for 8 teams.
Can I use it for esports and school events?
