How to use the Word Guess Game (Unlimited 5-Letter Word Puzzle)

1. Type a five-letter word using the on-screen keyboard or your keyboard, then press Enter. The word must be in the word list.
2. After each guess the tiles change colour: green means the right letter in the right place, orange means the letter is in the word but in a different place, and grey means it is not in the word.
3. Use the clues to guess the word in six tries or fewer. The keyboard also shows what you have learned about each letter.
4. Choose Unlimited for a new random word whenever you like, or Daily word for the word that is the same for everyone on that date. Tick Hard mode to be forced to reuse your hints.

Example

Worked example (a fictional game where the hidden word is CRANE)

• Guess SLATE: S grey, L grey, A green (A is the third letter of CRANE), T grey, E green
• Guess TRACE: T grey, R green, A green, C orange (C is in the word, but first, not fourth), E green
• Guess CRANE: All five tiles green: you win in 3 guesses
• Repeated letters: If you guess SPEED and the word has one E, only one E is coloured and the other E is grey

Limitations

• The answers come from a list of about 2,000 common English words, and guesses are checked against a larger list of about 5,000 five-letter words, so a rare but real word may be rejected.
• The word list uses a mix of British and American spellings. If a spelling is rejected, try the other one.
• The daily word is chosen from the date on your device, so people in different time zones can see a different day’s word for a few hours.
• Your statistics are saved in this browser only. Clearing site data resets them.
• This is an independent game and is not affiliated with any publisher or other game of a similar style.
